So you’re heading out for 2-3 weeks and trying to figure out which bag to use and how to pack for a trip that long—all while maintaining your minimalist status.
We’ve got the perfect option for you: the Allpa 42L Travel Pack (also available in Del Día). It’s roomy enough for 2+ weeks (if you pack smart) and has tons of compartments to keep everything organized below.
Something to keep in mind is that the Allpa 42L is a slightly larger bag, so it won’t fit under your seat, but it will likely fit in the overhead compartment on most domestic flights. That said, always check your airline’s max carry-on size before heading out.
Here are our recs on what to fill your pack with for your next trip (assuming you don’t need any specialized gear or apparel), plus a packing list made specifically for the Allpa 42L.
What To Pack For Around Town
Start by picking a color scheme or just go neutral—this will allow you to mix and match any of your bottoms and tops to maximize your outfits. Also try to choose casual styles that can be dressed up.
Choose a pair of shorts (or a skirt), jeans, and another pair of pants (like linen or khaki). As for tops, a nice tank, t-shirt, long-sleeve, and linen or cotton button-down also give you variety for different looks and temps. If you need some warmth and still want to be able to dress up, toss a sweater and/or a casual jacket (chore jacket, jean jacket, etc.) into your pack, too.
What To Pack For The Trail
Assuming weather is temperate, you can pack a combination of the following: 1-2 quick-dry tops (tank, tee, or long-sleeve depending on temps), and movement-friendly shorts and pants (or tights) so you’re covered no matter the weather.
As for jackets, we recommend rainwear, fleece, and a synthetic insulated jacket. This trifecta of layers will let you focus on taking in the views, rather than how uncomfortable you are in the cold or rain.
Which Shoes To Pack
A full range of activities requires a full range of shoes, but multiple shoes require a bit more space which can be tough when you’re trying to pack light. Luckily, the Allpa 42L has the extra room you need.
If you’re planning to hike, go for an adventure run, or just enjoy a long exploratory walk, a pair of sneakers (or trail shoes) is a great choice. For slightly dressier moments around town, bring a pair of cute and casual sneakers (like Sambas) and boots (like Blundstones) to throw on. If you want a pair of easy shoes to slide on for those in-between moments, you could also strap a pair of sandals to the webbing on the outside of your pack with a carabiner.
Add Some Extras
Rounding out the apparel side of things, don’t forget to bring socks, underwear, and PJs. You could also consider bringing a swimsuit along in case you have a chance to take a dip.
As for accessories, bring a hat, sunglasses, reusable water bottle (which can also be strapped to the outside of your pack), and a journal or book. For your daily adventures, consider bringing a hip pack (our Allpa X hip pack is designed to fit in the top pocket of our Allpa Packs) or small backpack to have all your essentials close at hand.
With that, get to packing and be on your way. Happy travels!
